“1916 Commemoration Show”

Scoraíocht Lannléire and Dunleer Mummers latest production for 2016 is the 1916 Commeration Show.
Including the” Big Circle”
The first show will be staged in Teach Scoraíocht on Friday April 8th at 7PM.
The group will then go on tour dates and venues to be announced.
Admission on Friday 8th is €5 which includes the raffle for a big cuddly toy and many more prizes for young and old.
Those attending are asked to try and dress somewhat like the fashion of the time 100 years ago.
Drama coach and actor is Rose Downes from Collon, and Liam Reynolds from Dunleer is the Musical Director and one of our musicians.
Hugh D Conlon is in charge of the overall production, and also plays a acting part.
Local stalwart Bartle Woods is also playing a leading role in the Mummers and the Traditional Music.
Tommy McCabe is in charge of PR to Newspapers/ radio/ TV and Social Media.
Dáithí O Broin, hailing from Maryville but now based in Dublin, is our website consultant.
Bernadette Sharkey from Ardee is in charge of finances and costumes and her son Cormac plays with the
Brian Byrne from Togher and Oliver Lynch from Philipstown are playing again with the Mummers in the Show.
One of the main singers is David O Brien from Monasterboice who sings the lovely song” Grace”.
The story of the 1916 wedding of Joseph Mary Plunkett and Grace Gifford , hours after which Plunkett was shot for his involvement in the Rising.
Also singing are Siobhan Farrelly from Tenure Niamh Cummins from Smarmore.
Niamh Cummins, who came second in Scoraíocht Lannléire’s S Factor 2015, sings in the” 1916 Commeration Show ” on Friday 8th April at Teach Scoraiocht.

Our musical group will be Bernard Carrie from Dunleer on Bass and Vocals and sound. Also featuring will be Sean Clare and his daughter Eimear and the Wednesday Night Session Group.
Declan Reynolds Dunleer on percussion, Declan Dunne from Clogherhead on Accordion and Sound Engineer for the project.
Helen Segrave and her wonderful ” Fior Damhsa” Dancing Group are in charge of all the dance routines and the 3 member young brass band players.

Scoraíocht Lannléire and Dunleer Mummers 2016 have a trip to Wales planned for 20th 21st and 22nd of May.
This will be an Historical and Musical event.
The group will follow the route taken by the 1800 Irish Rebels who imprisoned in the Internment Camp in Frongoch Bala Wales after the 1916 Rising.
It is intended to do the 1916 show in a Hotel in Betws y Coed in the centre of Snowdonia.
