Scoraiocht Lannleire and the Dunleer Mummers Club 2015 launched their road show in Castlecomer Co. Kilkenny on Saturday 21st Nov. The show finished in the early hours of Sunday morning to a packed house in Shortall’s Function in the town. MCs for the night were Rose Downes and Teddy Malone. The show ran for nearly 2.5 hours with music dancing and singing.
Musical Director Liam Reynolds said that the show ran just as he envisaged creating a real live fully interactive night where the audience fully participated.
The first appearance of the Dunleer Mummers brought the place down. Tommy McCabe playing the part of the Taoiseach played a blinder along with Bartle Woods playing the Doctor. Brian Byene played Gerry Adams , teddy Malone played Sean Rabbit, Hugh Conlon playing Mick Walkace and the youngest member of the cast Cormac Sharkey playing the part of The Faceless Man.
Fior Damhsa danced the feet off themselves bringing all the audience up on the floor.
Anchor musicians such as Bernard Carrie and Declan Reynolds and Declan Dunne brought a wealth of experience to the show.
Star performances of the night came from David O’Brien Tenure and Siobhan Farrelly,also from Tenure, and Eimear Clare Dunleer
David O’Brien’s mother Ann comes from North Kilkenny and travelled with the show and visited friends and neighbours over the weekend in the Gatabawn area.
Bernadette Conlon and Peter and Joan Farrelly made the trip to Kilkenny as well along with Teddy Malones sister Tara and her husband and Teddy.s brother in Law Paddy Butterly from Philipstown.
